GENERAL INFORMATION
The 4th Forum on Respiratory Tract Infections will be held at the Melia Sitges, from
February 8th to 11th, 2007.
Admission (Badges)
The participant’s name badge will be provided at the registration desk.
All participants are requested to wear the badge throughout the congress.
Only badge holders will be admitted to the appropriate sessions, exhibition and
social events.
Airport and transport
How to get to Sitges:
• By Air
Barcelona’ International Airport, El Prat, is 28 Km from Sitges. Most airlines operate
there, with daily flights to other Spanish and European cities as well as other
continents. The Mon-Bus company provides daily bus service stopping at the
Barcelona Airport’s B terminal, departing from 07.40 until 23.40.Viceversa in Sitges,
their service starts from 05.55 and runs until 20.55.
• By Road
The C-32 expressway gets you from Barcelona to Sitges and viceversa in just 30
minutes and Tarragona and viceversa in 45 minutes. In Vilafranca you can take the
AP-7 expressway northbound to La Jonquera and link up with the European
expressway network or southbound for the rest of Spain.
• By Rail
Sitges has excellent suburban train connections with Barcelona and Tarragona. There
is a train approximately every 15 minutes, which takes you to Barcelona’s Sants
Station in half an hour.
• In Sitges
Sitges has an urban bus line that runs between the town’s different neighbourhoods
and the centre. It passes every 30 minutes from 08:00 to 20:00.
There is also a taxi company with a fleet of 36 taxis (Tel + 34 93894 1329).
Coffee breaks and Lunches
During the Congress session breaks, coffee breaks and lunches will be served free of
charge to all registered participants, wearing Congress badges.
Credit cards
National and foreign cards are accepted.
Currency
The official currency in Spain is Euro.
Electricity
The standard voltage in Spain is 220 V. Plugs are continental - style two pins.
Insurance
The congress organisers cannot accept liability for personal injuries sustained, or for
loss or damage to property belonging to Congress participants and accompanying
persons, either during or as a result of the congress. Registration does not include
insurance. It is strongly recommended that you take an insurance policy of your
choice as you register for the Congress and book your travel.
The insurance should be purchased in your country of origin.
Language
The official language of the congress is English. Simultaneous translation
(English / Spanish) can be provided on request.
Letter of invitation
The Congress Secretariat will be pleased to send letters of invitation to any
individual making such a request. A letter of invitation facilitates the procedure of
obtaining a Visa. Please note that the letter is not a commitment on the part of the
Congress to provide any financial support.
